I’m Daz Eastwood, Events Manager from the HGSA. I’m going to write about last week's fan party and how the Huddersfield Giants squad is shaping up for the 2025 season.
Huddersfield Giants 2025 Squad Numbers and Fan Party
On Friday night Fartown revealed their 2025 alternative jersey. This was organised by our team at the HGSA, who threw a fantastic party for Giants fans to enjoy. This evening also incorporated the exciting announcement of the 2025 Huddersfield Giants squad numbers. Sports and Betting also granted one lucky winner 2 x tickets to the exclusive fan party, where they could also meet the players.
Now, lets see how the current squad is shaping up under the #RobboRevolution
What have Giants fans go to look forward to next season?
After yet another dreadful showing on the pitch, there have been changes aplenty for the ‘Fartowners’ over the off season. Big names have come and big names have gone. So how does their squad shape up ahead of 2025 and the 1st season under new head coach Luke Robinson?
Which Huddersfield Giants players have left for 2025?
The following players to exit the squad for the 2025 Super League season are:
Marmite man Jake Connor to Leeds
Esan Marsters and Chris Hill to Salford
Popular homegrown half-back Olly Russell to new boys Wakefield
Seb Ikahihifo and Kev Naiqama retire
Adam Milner moves on to Oldham
Andre Savelio has taken time out of the game due to ill health.
Who has joined the Huddersfield Giants for 2025?
Those joining the ‘Robbolution’ include:
England man and their big name signing Tom Burgess from South Sydney Rabbitohs
Zac Woolford, son of Ex-Coach Simon Woolford
Ex-Leeds and Hull man Liam Sutcliffe
Hometown boy George King from Hull KR
Exciting young Aussie talent, Jacob Gagai, following Burgess from the Souths
Who will be the Head Coach for the 2025 season?
Giants fans will be looking for a massive improvement this year, following two disappointing 9th place finishes. Expectations were high for the club, under previous coach Ian Watson.
Watson paid the price for the lack of movement up the table, and was replaced on a permanent basis by club legend Luke Robinson. Robinson will enter his 18th season at Huddersfield, where he has been a player, Academy Head Coach, Assistant Coach, Interim Head Coach. Finally, 2024 saw him cement his position as permanent Head Coach in time for the 2025 season.
What are the key squad changes for the 2025 Super League season?
Lets take a look at the key changes for 2025:
Gagai, Sutcliffe, Woolford and Burgess have been given shirts in the first 13. With 1, 4, 9 and 10 going to them respectively.
Club Legend, Leroy Cudjoe, goes around again for his 19th season in Huddersfield colours and keeps the number 21 shirt.
England international prop, Olly Wilson, gets rewarded for an outstanding season in 2024 by taking the number 8 shirt. Previously owned by the departing Chris Hill.
Giants fans will also be looking forward to seeing some of their exciting young talents taking to the field in 2025.
